The main exported products in the first 11 months of 2016

VCN- According to statistics on imported and exported goods from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the export value of 10 main commodity groups in the 11 months of 2016 reached more than $US 114.9 billion, accounting for 71.8% of total export value. In particular, the largest group is telephones and accessories (with an export value of $US 31.6 billion); followed by textiles ($US 21.56 billion), and computers, electronic products and accessories ($US 16.68 billion).

The export value of 10 main commodity groups in the 11 months of 2016 compared to 2015.

Telephones and accessories: Exported telephones and accessories in November 2016 reached $US 3.27 billion, an increase of 15.5% compared to the previous month. By the end of November 2016, the export value of this commodity group had been $US 31.6 billion, an increase of 11.1% compared to the same period in 2015.

The main markets importing telephones and accessories from Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2016 include: EU with $US 10.24 billion, an increase of 7.8%, accounting for 32.4% of total export value for this commodity group; the United States with $US 3.95 billion, an increase of 52.7%; and the United Arab Emirates with $US 3.59 billion, a decrease of 15.6% compared to the same period last year.

Textiles: the export value of textiles in November 2016 reached nearly $US 1.9 billion, a decrease of 1.9% compared to the previous month. Accordingly, the export value of textiles in the first 11 months of 2016 reached more than $US 21.56 billion, an increase of 4.6% compared to the same period last year.

The main markets importing textiles from Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2016 include: the United States with more than $US 10.33 billion, an increase of 4.7% over the same period, accounting for 47.9% of total export value for this commodity group; the Japanese market with more than $US 2.62 billion, an increase of 3.8%, accounting for 12.2%; and Korea with more than $US 2.12 billion, an increase of 7.1%, accounting for 9.8%.

Footwear: the export of footwear in November 2016 reached nearly $US 1.22 billion, an increase of 16.4% over the previous month. Accordingly, the export value of this commodity group in the first 11 months of 2016 reached nearly $US 11.67 billion, an increase of 8.1% compared to the same period last year.

The main markets importing footwear from Vietnam in the 11 months of 2016 mainly include: the US with more than $US 4.03 billion, an increase of 10% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 34.6% of total export value for this commodity group; and the EU (28 countries) with nearly $US 3.78 billion, an increase of 4.1%, accounting for 32.4%.

Computers, electronic products and components: Reaching an export value of more than $US 1.88 billion in November 2016, a decrease of 1.5% compared to the previous month. Accordingly, the export value of this commodity group in the first 11 months of 2016 reached more than $US 16.68 billion, an increase of 16.6% compared to the same period last year.

The main markets importing computers, electronic products and components from Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2016 include: China with $US 3.41 billion, an increase of 43.2% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 20.5% of total export value for this commodity group; and the EU (28 countries) with nearly $US 3.38 billion, an increase of 16.4%, accounting for 20.3%, and the US with nearly $US 2.69 billion, an increase of 1.6% , accounting for 16,1%.

Machinery, equipment and spare parts: Reaching an export value of $US 1.1 billion in November 2016, setting a new record and an increase of 8.9% compared to the previous month. Accordingly, the export value of this commodity group in the first 11 months of 2016 reached $US 9.4 billion, an increase of 27.4% (equivalent to an increase of $US 2.03 billion) compared to the same period in 2015.

The main markets importing machinery, equipment and spare parts from Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2016 include: the United States with $US 1.92 billion, an increase of 28.2%; Japan with $US 1.43 billion, an increase of 11.1%; and the EU with $US 1.24 billion, an increase of 38% compared to the same period last year. Particularly, the export value to China in the first 11 months of 2016 reached $US 1.13 billion, an increase of 72.8% compared to the same period last year.

Seafood: The export value of seafood in November 2016 was $US 678 million, a decrease of 6.4% compared to the previous month. Overall, in the first 11 months of 2016, the export value of seafood reached $US 6.4 billion, an increase of 7%.

Vietnam's seafood exports to the US in the first 11 months of 2016 reached $US 1.33 billion, an increase of 11%; exports to Japan reached $US 992 million, an increase of 5%; and exports to China reached $US 611 million, an increase of 52.4% compared to the same period in 2015.

Exported wood and wooden products: Reached $US 635 million in November 2016, an increase of 4.2% compared to the previous month. In the first 11 months of 2016, the export value of this commodity group reached nearly $US 6.22 billion, an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period last year.

The main markets importing wood and wooden products from Vietnam in the first 11 months of 2016 include: the United States with nearly $US 2.52 billion, an increase of 5.9% compared to the same period; China with $US 903 million, an increase of 9%; and Japan with $US 884 million, a decrease of 5.6% compared to the same period last year.

Agricultural products (fruits and vegetables, cashew nuts, coffee, tea, pepper and rice): The export value was $US 944 million in November 2016. Accordingly, the export value of agricultural products in the first 11 months of 2016 reached nearly $US 11.36 billion, an increase of 11.2% compared to the same period last year.

The main markets importing Vietnamese agricultural products in the first 11 months of 2016 include: China with $US 2.81 billion, an increase of 50% compared to the same period last year; the EU with $US 2.36 billion, an increase of 15.5%; and the US with $US 1.71 billion, an increase of 24.7%.

Coal: The coal export total in November 2016 was 165 thousand tons, an increase of 70.9% in volume and an increase of 21 million in value, equivalent to 117.5% compared the previous month. Thus, in the first 11 months of 2016, total coal exports only reached 992 thousand tons, a decrease of 39.4% and the total export value was $US 104 million, a decrease of 39.8% compared to the same period last year.

By the end of November 2016, Japan and the Philippines are the two leading markets importing coal from Vietnam, with Japan of 540 thousand tons, a decrease of 6.6%, and the Philippines of 107 thousand tons, a decrease of 12.5 % compared to the same period last year. However, coal exports to Malaysia achieved a high growth, more than 2 times compared to the same period last year, reaching 103 thousand tons.
