The ASEAN Film Week 2020 is planning to take place in either June or July across three Vietnamese localities namely the capital of Hanoi the central coastal city of Da Nang and the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City

This year’s event will run with the theme “ASEAN Cohesion and Proactive Adaptation” and is being jointly organised by the ASEAN 2020 National Committee, the ASEAN Propaganda and Culture Sub-committee, and the Vietnamese Cinema Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The event aims to celebrate the country’s 2020 ASEAN Chairmanship, whilst also connecting the different cultures of ASEAN member states in order to build a peaceful, stable, dynamic, cohesive, and prosperous ASEAN community in the long term.

A range of selected movies will be screened for free in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City throughout the ASEAN Film Week 2020.

Hanoi will play host to the opening ceremony of the event.

At present, ASEAN member states are required to submit film entries to Vietnam’s Cinema Department in a technical format of digital cinema package, HD Digital, or MP4 with English subtitles, in preparation for the regional event.
