Trade surplus to Italy in the first two months of the year was US$130 million

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, by the end of January 2020, Vietnam’s export turnover to Italyreached US$255.3 million.

Vietnam’s Exported goods are quite diverse, such as agricultural products, textiles, garments and footwear and electronic products.

In January, there are seven commodity groups exported to Italy with a turnover of US$10 million or more.

Export turnover of phones and components was US$65.8 million; footwear of US$30 million; and coffee of US$23.6 million.

Notably, import turnover to Italyalso fell sharply in the first month of this year.

Specifically, export turnover decreased about US$90 million compared to 2019, equivalent to 26 percent.

Export turnover ofphones and components declined nearly US$21 million, equivalent to a decrease of 24 percent.

In January, import turnover from Italy reached US$121 million.

Major import goods are textiles, garments, leather and footwear; medicine; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts.

However, at the end of January, Vietnam still had a trade surplus of more than US$130 million.
