Promote cooperation
Now, the Hanoi Polytechnic University is cooperating with the enterprises on recruitment, research and training courses based on the technology of enterprises which are incorporated into the school's modules and the specialized training courses towards a work environment for the students. To do this, the Hanoi Polytechnic University must build relationships with the enterprises to ensure the success of their respective courses. Up to now, the Hanoi Polytechnic University has had 10 joint training programs with the enterprises. Typically, the university has 4 joint training modules with the Samsung Company. After the student has taken these modules, they will be issued the appropriate certificate for their practice at Samsung.
Mr. Huynh Quyet Thang, Vice Rector of Hanoi University of Technology said that the university had 120-180 students who practice at Samsung and these students were the recruitment source of enterprises every year. "Such a training model will enable the students to have a good environment to develop and be able to learn the technology of Samsung Corporation, so, they have in-depth researches on this subject’, Mr. Thang emphasized.
In addition, the Hanoi University of Technology also offers the students a chance to access the culture of each business. “The Korean enterprises will have a different culture to the Japanese and American enterprises. Therefore, in parallel with researching, training, the students also have to be familiar with the culture of the country to work well in the enterprises”, said Mr. Thang.
Last few years, the University of Technology – the Hanoi National University has always promoted training to have qualified human resources to meet the labor market of Vietnam and the FDI enterprises. To do this, the university is coordinating with the companies such as Samsung, LG, Vinmart...
In the past, the University of Technology – the Hanoi National University (HNU) in cooperation with the Military Telecom Group (Viettel) organized the launching ceremony of the School of Aerospace Engineering (SAE). The SAE trains and provides highly qualified human resources in aerospace engineering at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels; study and develop the technologies and the scientific products in the field of aerospace to meet the civil and security requirements of the country; Provide the consulting services, technology- knowledge transfer in the field of aerospace technology at home and abroad.
Change the training method to attract the enterprises
Now, the leading universities such as: the Hanoi University of Technology and the University of Technology, had many training cooperation programs with enterprises. Meanwhile, many universities in Vietnam have not received the attention and investment from enterprises.
Mr. Chu Duc Trinh, Vice Rector of the University of Technology said that if the training quality of the universities met the requirements of the enterprises, they would invest in the universities. To do this, the universities had to change themselves, invest much more in scientific research, training programs, and more importantly, had to invest in the good students. If the students were not good, there would be no attraction for the enterprises. Because the enterprises’ investment purpose was to grow the enterprises and look forward to getting good future workers. “When the universities receives the support of enterprises via financial support, training programs and, most importantly, partnerships that the lectures could link research directly to the requirement of enterprises”, Mr. Trinh said.
Mr. Huynh Quyet Thang also asserted that the challenges of universities today were the rapid changes that led to the change of technology products, so that, the education of universities had to change. The cooperation between the international universities and the enterprises would assist the universities on training.
Mr. Pham Duc Vinh, Rector of Industrial Vocational College Hanoi said that the training combination was beneficial for all sides. Accordingly, universities would not need to invest too much in equipment and facilities such as workshops, classrooms, and even technology, because the enterprises must always innovate the technology to develop, so when combining with the enterprises, both sides would share technology for each other. Moreover, this combination would avoid the widespread training that led to “gap” demand in the labor market. When the students did practice in the enterprises, it meant that they were practicing and accessing a practical business and production environment, so that they could choose more suitable jobs. The combination between the universities and the enterprises also created motivation for the improvement of vocational training quality to compete with each other, thereby it created dynamic and flexible training units, increasing income for the universities. For the enterprises, this would ensure the human resources for business and production, especially when the orders increased. The enterprises could also cut re-training costs for the employees, thereby increasing the financial benefits.
