Turkish businesses seek to expand investments in Vietnam

Tran Quang Tuyen, Vietnamese ambassador to Turkey, recently paid a working visit to Istanbul with the aim of fostering closer ties with a network of Turkish businesses and strengthening the attraction of Vietnam’s economy and investment in the country.
During the visit, Ambassador Tuyen met with Turkey-Vietnam Business Council member businesses who are developing plans to promote investment in Vietnam in fields such as energy, construction, trade and telecommunications to name but a few.
Speaking at the meeting, Tuyen highlighted the rapid growth of two way trade between the two nations over the past decade which saw a 13-fold increase to nearly US$3 billion in 2017.
The ambassador spoke highly of huge potential for stronger bilateral cooperation and assured the Vietnamese government’s readiness to stand side by side with foreign investors, including those from Turkey, to create a favourable business climate for investment projects.
Furthermore, the ambassador expressed hope that Turkish businesses will come directly to Vietnam in order to experience and gain more insights into the country’s business environment.

In addition, the diplomat called for Turkish companies to invest in strong fields that Vietnam priotizes, such as infrastructure, sustainable development of agriculture, green energy, public health, tourism and hi-technology. The Vietnamese embassy readies to serve as a bridge supporting Turkish businesses in seeking partners and business opportunities in Vietnam, he added.
During the meeting, Turkish business representatives hailed Vietnam as a large and promising market and important gateway for them to enter other markets in South East Asia.
Turkish businesses, especially those that have regular business activities with Vietnam, desire to get visa facilitation for the expansion of investments and business operations throughout the country.
During the working visit between November 27 and 28, ambassador Tuyen also had working sessions with a number of Turkish companies, including-Travelshop, Repkaucuk and Turkish Airlines to learn more about their future projects and plans for their investments in Vietnam.
