According to VASEP, on April 9, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) announced the preliminary rate of anti-dumping tax for Vietnamese shrimp in the 13th administrative review period (POR13), with 31 businesses enjoying 0% tax.
The US Department of Commerce preliminarily concluded that frozen warm-water shrimp products of two mandatory defendants - Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company (Fimex VN) and Nha Trang Seaproduct Company were not subject to dumping into the US during the period from 1/2/2017 to 31/1/2018. Therefore, DOC announced a preliminary tax of two companies at 0%.
Besides the above two enterprises, 29 Vietnamese companies which have applied for determination of different tax rates or guarantee no shipments export to the US within the above period will also enjoy a tax rate of 0%
According to Ho Quoc Luc, Chairman of Sao Ta Food Joint Stock Company, this is the best anti-dumping tax rate in 13 years that Vietnam has faced anti-dumping lawsuits in the US for shrimp.
To enjoy the anti-dumping tax rate as mentioned above, Vietnamese enterprises have provided satisfactory data to DOC. This preliminary tax rate is expected to remain in the final decision of DOC in September, helping shrimp exports to the US market in the future.
