On August 27, at Cat Lai port, the Import Cargo Customs Procedure Team – Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch coordinated with Southern Anti-smuggling Enforcement Unit (Unit 3) – Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department – General Department of Vietnam Customs to inspect the import shipment and detected the goods in the container were slot machines.

According to Customs authority, the above shipment was imported by Sun World Logistics Co., Ltd (district 4, HCM City). This enterprise declared the imported shipment was working desks made out of MDF and imported from Australia to Vietnam.

This shipment was classified in the yellow channel – dossier inspection by the system. After arousing suspicions, Saigon port area 1 Customs Department changed the inspection channel and coordinated with Unit 3 to conduct a physical inspection of the shipment.

As a result, no desks were found inside the container. The entire shipment included 37 used slot machines which are listed as banned goods for import.

According to the regulation, the import of arcade machines is subjected to specialized management of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism under the Circular 28/2014/TT-BVHTTDL.

Customs authorities are conducting verification the above slot machines.
