Speaking to the Chinese State Councilor, General Secretary Trọng expressed his satisfaction with the positive development in Việt Nam-China’s co-operation and partnership.
He suggested that the two sides continue their efforts in enhancing practical co-operation in all fields while properly addressing East Sea issues in accordance with international law and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC). General Secretary Trọng also mentioned the necessity of the establishment of a Code of Conduct (COC) on the area and maintenance of stability and peace in the region.
Councilor Yang congratulated Việt Nam on its successful 12th Party Congress and informed General Secretary Trọng of outcomes at the steering committee’s ninth meeting for bilateral co-operation between Việt Nam and China in Hà Nội the same day.
Councilor Yang spoke highly of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership and expressed his determination to work with Việt Nam in effectively implementing established agreements between the two sides.
When meeting with Councilor Yang, President Trần Đại Quang said Việt Nam considers the fostering of Việt Nam-China co-operation a foreign policy priority. He said the two parties need to seriously enforce high-level agreements and foster political trust via high-ranking and all-level exchanges. Quang also added that effective measures need to be conducted so that bilateral trade co-operation can develop in a more balanced and sustainable manner. The President welcomed Chinese investment in major projects in Việt Nam. Regarding maritime issues, Quang suggested the two sides strictly follow high-level agreements, including the agreements on basic principles to resolve maritime issues between Việt Nam and China and effectively manage disagreements. He also called for the proper implementation of the DOC and early establishment of the COC.

Councilor Yang said the Chinese State and Party were always willing to continue fostering the Việt Nam-China partnership and enforcing high-level agreements.
