Vietnam desires stronger cooperation with Chinese localities

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement at a July 9 meeting with Secretary of the Suzhou municipal Party Committee Zhou Naixiang as part of her going visit to China from July 8-12.
The top Vietnamese leader showed her elation at the positive, healthy and stable development in Vietnam-China relations over the past time with regular exchange high-level visits and meetings.
She also noted with satisfaction remarkable progress in economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries as well as the promotion of exchanges between Vietnamese and Chinese localities, including Jiangsu and Suzhou.
Ngan also assured Vietnam’s readiness to offer the best possible conditions for foreign businesses to run investment in the country.
She said she was expressed at the fact that Suzhou has been leading Jiangsu in terms of economic development for many consecutive years and was placed seventh in China in terms of regional gross domestic product in 2018.
In reply, the Suzhou municipal leader said businesses from Suzhou city wish to beef up cooperation with Vietnam - a fast growing economy.
Last year’s trade between Vietnamese localities and Suzhou hit US$ 8.5 billion, a year-on-year rise of 28.9% and the bilateral trade in the first five months of 2019 reached US$3.4 billion, up 15% in comparison to the same period last year, he said.
The Chinese city now has 50 investment projects on garment-textiles and plastic products in Vietnam, Zhou told his guest.
He expressed his confidence that the Vietnamese NA leader’s ongoing official visit to China will contribute to fostering the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The same day, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also visited a number of cultural and economic establishments in Suzhou City.
