Vietnam wishes for stronger international cooperation in crime prevention and combat
The conference focused on ASEANAPOL’s continued cooperation to fight emerging crimes like illegal purchase and sale of drugs, terrorism, arms and human trafficking, and technology crimes.
In his opening address, Vietnamese Minister of Public Security To Lam said that as the Southeast Asian region is facing security challenges, the role of ASEAN law enforcement agencies is very important.
Currently, ASEAN is considered a dynamic region and plays a very important role in economic development strategies, security and national defence of many countries in the world. Located in highly important strategic geographic position, the regional bloc is drawing the attention and investment resources from other nations and international organizations across the globe which will see prospects for sustainable development in the future, he said.
