It's time for Vietnamese enterprises to transform themselves to be able to catch up with the ongoing wave of production shifts.
Changing to catch up with global manufacturing
Our country's economy has a large openness, heavily dependent on raw materials and imported fuel. Therefore, the global supply chain plays an important role in Vietnam's economy. Disruptions and changes in the global supply chain affect and cause significant consequences for the development of the country.
Currently, suppliers in the global supply chain use digital technology and platform business models, creating an environment for manufacturers and consumers to directly interact with each other, facilitating exchange of goods, services, and currencies and creating value for the parties involved.
This reflects that digital technology and e-commerce will continue to be the main trend and important solution to operate the international supply chain and trade in the context of the world's many uncertainties impacting economic and social activities.
Transforming in the direction of digitizing the production process is an option that many Vietnamese enterprises have invested in to bring themselves deeper into the global supply chain.Manutronics Joint Stock Company is one of them. This company operates in the field of optical disc manufacturing and electronic assembly services, the company's products have joined the chain of many large enterprises and multinational corporations.
Selected to participate in the Smart Factory Development project implemented by Samsung Vietnam in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and localities, Manutronics boldly invested in production lines, made efforts to improve and maximize the system through the following activities: Building a collection environment, sharing the time of production; Standardizing the process of managing spare parts, accessories and system application; Coding spare parts, parts, accessories, optimizing management process; Applying construction of equipment and material; Applying barcode scanning to manage production results and inventory status; Applying software to manage production and equipment, defect rate.
Mr. Tran Ngoc Linh, Director of Manutronics Joint Stock Company, said: “Participating in the project, we have learned a lot from Samsung experts, thereby making efforts to change our factory. Learning, changing and being trained by Samsung's own experts will help us gradually meet the requirements of global supply chains.”
Positive signals from Vietnamese enterprises
Along with Manutronics, many Vietnamese enterprises have also changed, ready to invest to prepare for the wave of production shift. Thirteen enterprises have participated in the smart factory development project with Manutronics, including: Chien Thang Industry Co., Ltd., An Lap Plastic Co., Ltd., Hanoi Plastic Joint Stock Company, An Phu Viet Plastic Co., Ltd., Haast Vietnam Co., Ltd., Hanpo Vina Joint Stock Company, Tran Thanh Co., Ltd., JK Viet Nam Industrial Joint Stock Company, DM Vina Co., Ltd., Accuracy Joint Stock Company, Hanoi manufacturing and import, export of packaging Company, Thinh Vuong Manufacturing and Trading Company Limited, and Postal Equipment Joint Stock Company.
Before participating in the project, these enterprises also collect and manage data, the process operation information is updated slowly, often in units of days or weeks, greatly affecting the speed and efficiency of decision-making by managers. When participating in the program, enterprises have been trained and guided to plan strategies as well as build a transparent roadmap towards "Smart Factory".
The management system includes processes that have been redesigned to be optimized, ensuring a smooth and continuous flow of operational information. Administration solutions based on digitization and automation are transferred directly from Samsung experts, helping both the management system and the production site to be significantly changed from receiving requirements, and developing production plans to storage and product delivery.
Data related to productivity, quality, delivery, costs are managed and analyzed in real-time to help managers quickly, easily and accurately make decisions.
The change and adaptation to global production trends of Vietnamese enterprises is a positive signal that enterprises have been preparing the necessary conditions to be ready to receive the new wave of production shift, so that Vietnam becomes an important production base in the world.
Mr. Choi Joo Ho, General Director of Samsung Vietnam, said: “I am very happy and proud to witness with my own eyes the spectacular change of companies after participating in the Smart Factory Development Support Project. These changes are the foundation for them to improve their competitiveness according to global standards in all processes such as research and production. From there, companies have more opportunities to participate in the supply chain of Samsung and the global supply chain. Samsung will continue to make efforts to spread the program to more localities in order to support and accompany Vietnamese enterprises, contributing to the recovery and sustainable socio-economic development in the post-COVID-19 period and promoting industrialization and modernization in the digital era.”
