Which are seven provinces achieved tens billion of USD in export?

The localities appeared in the group of key export localities of Vietnam included Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Hanoi and Hai Phong.

Compared to the same period of 2018, the number of provinces reaching "tens of billion USD" in export increased by one, which was Hai Phong.

By the end of October 2019, total export turnover of Hai Phong reached $11.783 billion, while it only hit $9.5 billion in the same period last year. Regarding trade balance, Hai Phong had a trade surplus of about $600 million.

Among the other provinces, Ho Chi Minh City maintained its leading position in the country in both exports and imports turnover. In particular, export turnover reached $34.8 billion, increasing by more than $3 billion over the same period in 2018.

Notably, among the seven main export localities, Bac Ninh was the only province with a decrease in turnover compared to the same period last year. By the end of October, although this locality maintained second position, the total value was only nearly $28.4 billion, while it exceeded $31 billion in the same period last year.

Another remarkable point was that Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have suffered large trade deficits while the remaining five provinces had trade surpluses.

Specifically, Ho Chi Minh City had a trade deficit of nearly $7 billion in the first 10 months, while the figure for Hanoi was even larger at some $12.6 billion.

With total turnover of nearly $149.5 billion, the seven localities accounted for 68.3 percent of total export value of the whole country in the same period.

Besides the seven provinces and cities of "tens of billions of USD", many localities have achieved export turnover of billions of USD.

However, among 63 provinces and cities, the number of provinces that achieved export turnover which was only a few million or a few tens of million USD were mainly northern provinces.

By the end of October, the export turnover of Bac Kan province was only more than $3 million,the lowest compared to other provinces of the country.

In addition, Lai Chau only reached more than $5 million; Cao Bang was over $10 million; Son La was over $17 million; Dien Bien was over $37 million.
