One of the outstanding applications is carrying out customs procedures completely electronically (E-Declaration). Along with the rapid development of Vietnam’s economy, the workload of the General Department of Vietnam Customs has increased sharply.
Specifically, the average import-export turnover increased by 23% each year, the average amount of import-export duty collected each year increased by 9.2%; and the average number of import and export declarations per year increased by 22%.
Meanwhile, the number of customs officers and employees also decreased following Resolution 39-NQ/TW of the Politburo. In fact, in the past five years, customs officers and employees have decreased by 1.5-1.7% each year.
Thanks to the application of IT, the implementation of customs procedures of enterprises is carried out smoothly, continuously and quickly. Accordingly, IT has become an important tool for the General Department of Vietnam Customs to successfully complete the set political tasks.
Up to now, 100% of basic customs procedures have been automated, 100% of customs departments and customs branches have carried out electronic customs procedures with 99.65% of enterprises participating.
Accordingly, the declaration, receipt, information processing and issuance of clearance are done with a very high degree of automation; the processing time only takes from 1 to 3 seconds.
