148 customs officers take part in capacity assessment test

The opening ceremony of the test on January 8 at the headquarters of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

On January 8, a capacity assessment test for customs officers of Test group No.7, including customs inspectors and officers of the Customs Department of Goods Verification, took place at the headquarters of the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Director of Customs Reform and Modernization Board (under the General Department of Vietnam Customs) Luong KhanhThiet said the customs development strategy to 2020has set a goal of building Vietnam Customs to become an e-customs authority with a professional and modern customs force, gradually approaching the development of customs of advanced countries in the world.

In the 2016-2020 period, the Customs sector focused on building forces towards the goal of professionalism, specialization, integrity, mastery of modern technology,with the key task of building and deploying a model of capacity-based human resource management in the whole customs sector.

Therefore, the capacity assessment helps the Customs sector determine the capacity of Customs officers to manage and effectively use current human resources. At the same time, selecting officers to plan and train to become high- quality human resources, meeting requirements of Customs reform, development and modernization.

Customs officers took part in the Test group No.7

In 2018, the General Department of Vietnam Customs held capacity assessment tests for more than 3,000 officers who do not hold leadership positions (in six departments under the General Department of Vietnam Customs and seven local customs departments) in six key operational activities: Customs control and supervision, import and export duty, anti-smuggling and investigation, risk management and offence handling.

Recently, the General Department of Vietnam Customs organized capacity assessment test in six test groups (in Lang Son, Bac Ninh, Binh Dinh, Quang Binh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, CanTho) for 1,870 officers.

Through the tests, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has classified capacity of officers under three levels (1,2,3), of which most officers achieved high results.
