Arrest a female passenger hiding more than 4 kg of cocaine in cans of food

4 cans of food containing more than 4 kg of cocaine.

In the night of 28/10/2018, at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Unit - HCMC Customs Department chaired and coordinated with the Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch and competent forces to conduct a key inspection for luggage of a female passenger, KALAIVANI G MUNIANDY (was born on 15/3/1980, Malaysian nationality) and discovered the illegal transportation of narcotics.

Through the physical inspection of luggage of the female passenger, the working group found that besides the personal belongings, there were also 4 metal cans containing food. These cans were carefully packed and mixed with personal belongings.

Upon opening the lids of those food cans, the customs authority found inside they contained blue rubber wrapping, inside the wrappers was contained a white substance suspected to be a drug.

By conducting a quick sample with drug testing equipment, the results were positive to cocaine. Along with that, the result of inspection of the Department of Criminal Science - Ho Chi Minh City Police showed the sample sent by Customs authority was cocaine

The total weight of the narcotic in the four metal cans was about 4.1 kg (including package).

It is known that KALAIVANI G MUNIANDY entered from Dubai to Vietnam on flight EK392, landing at Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 7:35 PM on 28/10/2018. The flight schedule was: Sao Paulo (Brazil) - Dubai (United Arab Emirates) - Ho Chi Minh City.

Initially, the object claimed that she carried the "food" cans for an unknown man from Brazil to HCMC to deliver to another person in a hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. However, when she arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport, she was detected and arrested by the Customs authority.

According to this result, the Anti-Drug Enforcement Unit made a record of arresting the offender - KALAIVANI G MUNIANDY, for illegal transportation of cocaine from abroad into Vietnam. They also handed over case dossiers, exhibits and objects to PC 04 - Ho Chi Minh City Police to continue investigation and handling in accordance with the law.

The case is currently under further investigation.
