Concentrate on handling backlogged scrap at seaport

The Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Mai Xuan Thanh – leader of interdisciplinary working group chaired the working session.
Participating in the working session of interdisciplinary working group were the representatives of competent unit under the Mininstry of Justice, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, High Command of Border Defense Force and Vietnam Martime Administration (Ministry of Transport).
Speaking at the meeting, Thanh said the handling of backlogged goods in general, including backlogged scrap at seaports, is receiving the attention of the Government, Prime Minister, Ministry of Finance and leaders of ministries and branches.
To effectively handle the treatment of backlogged scrap at seaports, on the basis of agreement with the concerned ministries and branches, recently the Ministry of Finance leaders signed and promulgated Decision No. 1324/QD-BTC to establish the interdisciplinary working group on handling backlogged goods that are scrap at Vietnamese seaports led by Deputy Director Generalof Vietnam Customs Mai Xuan Thanh.
Members of the group are representatives of units under the Mininstry of Justice, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, High Command of Border Defense Force and Vietnam Martime Administration (Ministry of Transport).
Through grasping the contents of Decision 1324, Mr. Thanh said the interdisciplinary working group has a series of important tasks such as urging and directing the council for handling backlogged goods at the local Customs Departments to counting, classify and handle backlogged goods as scrap at seaports.
The interdisciplinary working group will guide the Council for handling backlogged goods at the local customs authorities to organise the auction in accordance with regulations.
Besides that, the leader of the interdisciplinary working group is responsible for coordinating and organising the activities of the interdisciplinary working group and is responsible to report to the Minister of Finance the results of the work of the interdisciplinary working group.
In addition, members of the interdisciplinary working group are responsible to promptly advise and propose to the group leader of the interdisciplinary working group on issues within their respective managementfields in orderto handle arising problems in the process of handling backlogged scrap.
At the meeting on September 19, Deputy Director GeneralMai Xuan Thanh asked the members to focus on discussing and proposing solutions to advise and submit to the competent authorities an effective solution to handle the backlogged scrap at seaport.
The current backlogged scraps are in five seaport areas: Hai Phong, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Dinh and Ba Ria-Vung Tau.
