Continuing cooperation to upgrade VNACCS / VCIS system

VCN- On the morning of 23rd June 2017, in Hanoi, the Director General of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can met and exchanged with Mr. Takahashi, the Deputy Head of JICA in Vietnam in upgrading the VNACCS / VCIS system.

At the meeting, the Director General of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can thanked JICA for supporting and exchanging experiences for Vietnamese Customs officers in successfully operating and deploying the VNACCS / VCIS system.

The Director General of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can emphasized that Vietnam Customs managed many types of imports and exports which were different from Japan. Consequently, Vietnamese Customs officers have to run into much difficulty in connecting with the VNACCS / VCIS system.

The Director General highly appreciated the technical support in upgrading hardware and expanding the software of the VNACCS / VCIS system.

Mr. Takahashi said, the hardware upgrading is an important task with a large workload. He hoped that Vietnam would allocate funds for this task, and the Japanese side would have a longer-term vision to assist Vietnam Customs to upgrade the hardware of the system.

In order to do this, the Director General of Vietnam Customs, Mr. Nguyen Van Can said that JICA shall continue to work with departments and units of Vietnam Customs to build a comprehensive estimate to serve as the basis for approval authority.

Earlier, in February 2017, during the meeting with JICA Head of Mission, the Director General of Vietnam Customs, Nguyen Van Can expressed his wish that JICA would continue to give priority and support to the objectives of Vietnam Customs, especially supporting costs for Vietnam Customs in upgrading software, replacing hardware, maintenance, training for Customs officers to install the VNACCS system software and convert the system data from old hardware to the new one.
