Controlling smuggling cases across border gates during the Lunar New Year

Recently, the Ministry of Finance has requested subordinate units to strictly comply with policies of the Party and the State's laws to effectively prevent crimes and offenses under the management of the Finance sector, maintain social security, order and stability, coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to combat crimes during the Lunar New Year.

Units are required to speed up the inspection and examination in public service performance of officers to detect and handle irresponsible and negative acts and violations in tax, customs and banking sectors. The units must assign qualified and experienced officers to work in key units and areas.

In addition, the units are asked to coordinate with competent forces of the Police, Border Guard, Coastguard, Market Surveillance, Aviation Security and local governments to exchange information, detect and arrest suspects and seize infringing goods.

The Ministry of Finance has assigned the GDVC to combat and identify smuggling cases and illegal transportation of goods across border gates.

For the cases showing signs of criminal offenses, the GDVC needs to discuss and coordinate with the Procuracy and the competent investigating agency to agree on handling.

The ministry has requested the GDVC to strengthen inspection, supervision and post-clearance audit for banned goods and goods affecting security and order and social safety, fake goods, goods with origin fraud, and products infringing intellectual property rights such as consumer goods, general products for the Lunar New Year; goods at risk of smuggling and recirculating inland, and products related to the prevention of Covid-19.

The Ministry has also assigned the General Department of Taxation to strengthen the inspection and examination for anti-tax loss, the use, management and records of trading imported goods, goods collection of border residents of households and individuals doing business in border gates and sea areas to prevent the use of invoices for legalizing smuggled goods.

The Ministry of Finance assigned units to implement Covid-19 prevention and control plans, ensuring security and order under the unified direction of the Government. Promptly encourage and reward collectives and officers who have outstanding achievements in performance.
