Customs earns about VND152 billion from anti-smuggling

The conference was addressed by Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai and participated in by the GDVC’s leaders and local customs departments.

According to the GDVC, amid the turbulence of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Customs sector has achieved positive results in key tasks.

The GDVC has submitted to the Ministry of Finance to report to the Government to issue specialised policies to handle problems in import process of goods for disease prevention.

It also issued dispatches to request local customs departments implement solutions to clear goods in a quick and smooth manner while ensuring customs control and preventing trade fraud and disease.

Between January and September, the Customs sector’s revenues increased by 26.23% year-on-year to VND280,981 billion, hitting 89.2% of the estimate and 84.8% of the target.

As of end September, tax revenues rose by 22.45% to 284,600. The figure was equivalent to 85% of the target set by the Ministry of Finance compared with the same period year.

According to the GDVC, Customs has earned VND31,600 billion on average per month. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic in August and September, the revenue reduced 19.8% to VND28,460 billion and VND24,600 billion, respectively compared with July.

Regarding the fight against crime, smuggling and commercial fraud, the Customs sector handled 3,365 violations, the infringing goods worth estimated at more than VND305 billion, and collected nearly VND50 billion. Customs prosecuted 10 violations and transferred 24 cases to other agencies for prosecution.

Between January and September, the whole Customs sector handled 10,743 violations, the value of infringing goods was estimated at VND 1,843 billion; earned VND151,712 billion. Customs prosecuted 22 cases and transferred 95 cases to another agency for prosecution.

In addition, the GDVC continues to effectively implement reform of administrative procedures and customs modernisation such as: implementation of the National Single Window, the ASEAN Single Window; performing online public services, and mobilising resources on launching digital customs system and smart customs model.

The GDVC strives to complete the set key tasks in the fourth quarter, implements the Government Resolution 01 and Resolution 02 dated January 1, 2021 and the Directives and Resolutions on the prevention of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The general department focuses on key tasks and solutions on administrative reform, simplification, automation of customs procedures, trade facilitation and strives to exceed the annual revenue target; combats crimes, smuggling and trade fraud.
