Customs sector achieved revenue collection by VND 330,474 billion

VCN –As of December 15, the whole Customs sector collected VND 330,474 billion, exceeding 9.97 percent of the target, reaching 98.74 percent compared to the target (VND 340,000 billion), up by 11.29 percent over the same period last year.

According to a representative of the Import and Export Duty Department, import and export duty collection are being carried out effectively thanks to closely following and strictly implementing Directive 723/CT-TCHQ of the General Department of Vietnam Customs on synchronous and drastic solutions to facilitate trade, combat revenue loss and complete the task of State revenue collection in 2019 by provincial Customs Departments. With this progress, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has adjusted collection tasks of 20 Customs departments of provinces and cities, of that assigning VND 11,865 billion as targets for 14 customs departments. These are units with a large volume of import and export goods which have exceeded the assigned budget since early 2019.

Also according to a representative of the Import and Export Duty Department, thanks to the above efforts, many provincial Customs Departments contributed a large amount of revenue to Customs sector, including Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department with more than VND 113,753 billion, exceeding current appropriation (VND 108,800 billion), reaching 100.76 percent of the target; Hai Phong Customs Department collected some VND 65,702 billion, exceeding 38.26 percent of current appropriation, 4.29 percent above the target; Hanoi Customs Department achieved VND 22,092 billion, exceeding 5.85 percent of the assigned target and 100.42 percent of the target. To achieve the above revenues, there is a strong growth of import and export activities of enterprises.

To improve the efficiency of revenue collection, in the last days of 2019, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has stepped up the programme of enterprises applied for tax collection to facilitate import-export enterprises, thereby quickly clearing goods.

Specifically, the General Department of Vietnam Customs has implemented the programme of enterprises applied for tax collection for five major commercial banks: Vietinbank, BIDV, TPBank, VPBank and Vietcombank.

The implementation of this programme aims to create a payment channel of import and export duty for businesses. At the same time, it is a step to upgrade and expand online tax payment 24/7, facilitate manufacturing enterprises in industrial parks and export processing zones generating more declarations so they don’t waste time on tax payment as well as human resources of enterprises when implementing procedures. In addition to facilitating businesses to pay taxes, the General Department of Vietnam Customs would advise the Ministry of Finance in amending and supplementing Decree 134/2016/ND-CP to facilitate production and business activities, removing obstacles for export production and processing activities. Along with that, amending and supplementing the provisions of Decree No. 125/2017/ND-CP on the list of preferential import tariffs, of that formulating the preferential policies for automobile components as well as raw materials for manufacturing components.

The representative of the Import and Export Duty Department said that by facilitating the collection, amendment and supplementation the policy would contribute to business activities of enterprises, increasing import-export activities and increasing revenue sources in the last month of the year and the Customs sector would reach the highest level of revenue collection.
