Customs sector achieves more than VND 100,000 billion in revenue collection

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, revenue collected from import-export activities from April 1 to April 28 reached VND 20,415 billion and accumulated from the beginning of the year to April 28 hit VND 99,280 billion, 29.37% of current appropriation, 27.9% of the striving target.
Based on revenue collection and estimated turnover of import and export products in April as well as the current economic situation, the General Department of Vietnam Customs estimated that revenue collection in the first four months reached VND 101,000 billion, equivalent to 29.88% of current appropriation, 28.4% of the striving target, down 13.2% over the same period last year.
Regarding the import and export situation, in April, total value was estimated to reach $40.1 billion, down 13.4% compared to March. Total export value was $19.7 billion, down by 18.4% and total import value was about $20.4 billion, falling 7.9%.
Compared to the same period in 2019, Vietnam’s export value decreased by 3.5% and import value decreased by 2.4%.
With these developments, Vietnam's trade balance of goods in April was estimated to suffer a trade deficit of $700 million.
In the first four months, total import and export turnover was estimated to reach $162.8 billion, up 3.4% from the same period in 2019.

Notably, in the first four months of the year, several industries contributed greatly to revenue collection of customs sector decreased sharply, like: imported completed automobiles were 33,000 units, worth $710 million, down 35.2 % in volume and down 36.6% in value from the same period in 2019; and imported gasoline was estimated to reach 2,841 million tonnes, worth $1.125 billion, down 7.3% in volume and 40.5% in value compared to the same period in 2019.
