Da Nang Customs: Worries about result of revenue collection due bad impact of Covid-19

In 2020, the Da Nang Customs Department is assigned to collect VND 4,100 billion VND, up 5.13% compared to the current appropriation in 2019, an increase of 1.43% compared to the revenue achieved in 2019 and the striving target is VND 4,320 billion.
Da Nang Customs Department forcasted that State revenue in 2020 would be more difficult than previous years due to the increase in target of State revenue collection. It would be accomplished if the revenue of Da Nang did not fluctuate. Due to import duty rates under free trade agreements (FTA) have sharp reductions, especially the CPTPP agreement officially came into effect.
Meanwhile, the situation of acute respiratory infections caused by new strains of corona virus (Covid-19) is increasingly spreading, complex and unpredictable,leading to a series of consequences for Vietnam's import and export activities.
Facing this situation, to accomplish the State revenue estimate in 2020, leaders of Da Nang Customs Department have implemented many solutions to implement State revenue collection. Specifically, assigning heads of units under the department to deploy common tasks and specific tasks assigned in Directive 1040/CT-TCHQ of General Department of Vietnam Customs on synchronous and drastic implementation of trade facilitation solutions to improve effectiveness of State management, combat revenue loss in implementing task of State revenue collection in 2020.
Focusing on reviewing and firmly grasping tax debt situation of the unit; to classify recoverable and irrecoverable debts to have measures to recover tax debts in accordance with provisions of law; reduce tax arrears; strive not to generate new debts.
Proactively checking items, businesses carrying out procedures in the area via customs operation system to detect errors, suspecion about goods names, codes, tax rates, values to ensure right collection, collecting enough amount of tax money into the State.
According to Da Nang Customs Department, total import-export turnover in the first quarter (from the beginning of the year to the middle of March 2020) exceeded $652 million, up 3.2% over the same period, of that imports reached $304 million, up 1.25%; exports reached more than $347 million, up 4.87%.
