At the reception, Deputy Director General Hoang Viet Cuong said that in order to create a favorable business environment for the business community, including foreign investors, the Customs sector has actively facilitated businesses that comply well with policies of Tax, Customs, especially by simplifying the conditions for recognition as AEOs for businesses strictly observing tax payment. In addition, Vietnam Customs is focusing on strengthening the prevention of smuggling and trade fraud across-borders as well as controlling the enforcement of intellectual property rights at the borders.
Therefore, Deputy Director General Hoang Viet Cuong desires that in the coming time, South Korean Customs and Vietnam Customs will enhance the efficiency between the two parties in all areas.
Over the past time, through Coordination Committees implementing Asean-Korea Free Trade Agreement (AKFTA) and Vietnam-Korea Free Trade Agreement (VKFTA), the two parties have cooperated regularly to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles. One of the current problems is that the verification of the validity of C/O AK and VK forms issued by both parties, taking a long time and affecting the goods clearance time.

In order to remove these obstacles, currently, the two parties are researching to coordinate for implementation of the system of exchanging e-certificates of origin to minimize the time for verifying the certificate of origin, cost and clearance time for businesses.
In the coming time, after the approval by the Government, the two parties will discuss specifically on the development of the system of exchanging e-certificates of origin between Vietnam and Korea.
According to statistics, on the bilateral trade, export turnover between Vietnam-South Korea in 2017 reached US$ 14.8 billion and import turnover reached US$ 46.7 billion. Of which, export commodities with a high turnover include textiles and garments, telephones and accessories, electronic products and components; Import commodities with a high turnover include petroleum products, plastics, plastic products, fabric, computers, machines and equipment.
According to Mr.Tea-II Kang, Director of Information Cooperation Department, South Korean Customs, the South Korean Customs is a dynamic and modern authority in the region. Therefore, he hoped that in the coming time, the two Customs authorities will continue to cooperate to effectively implement the VKFTA and AKFTA and facilitate trade and remove obstacles on Customs clearance, Tax, classification, value, etc at the borders for businesses.
Cooperate to implement the plan on exchanging e-Certificate of Origin for further implementation of the VKFTA. At the same time, removing obstacles in negotiation on AEO MRA with South Korean Customs; Effectively implementing the plan on cooperation in investigation and information exchange on anti-smuggling between the two authorities, Mr. Tea II Kang stressed.
