Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai: The Customs has to surpass the revenue target of VND 293 trillion

VCN - This is the request that Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai said to the Customs at the Conference to sum up the implementation of tasks in the first quarter and deploy the tasks in the second quarter of 2018, held on 6th April 2018.

According to the Deputy Minister, the Customs revenue in the first quarter was 24.04% of the estimate. This is not a high rate. Thus, Customs units must recognize this rate to make more effort in the state budget collection from now on.

Approving with the solutions given by the General Department of Customs to implement the budget revenue task, Mrs Vu Thi Mai emphasized that the Customs Departments should closely follow the guidance of the General Director of Customs at the Directive on state budget collection and the solutions introduced by the Import-Export Duty Department and the General Department of Customs must strive to surpass the revenue target of VND 293 trillion assigned by the Ministry of Finance.

She also said that one of the important tasks that need to be focused on is the development of mechanism and policy projects on schedule, in a thorough review of the contents which must be satisfied and solve problems for enterprises. To do this end, the Deputy Minister suggested that the Customs Department at all levels must enhance consultations to receive comments and develop policies in a specific manner, and determine and closely control the implementation progress.

Particularly in the modernization and reform, the Deputy Minister asked the General Department of Customs to focus strongly on the automated customs management system and to review and evaluate the implementation process.

For the anti-smuggling and anti-trade frauds of the Customs sector, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the results and said that the Customs sector should continue to promote the achieved results and take the initiative in coordinating forces to made specialized cases and prevent the establishment of hot spots on smuggling and commercial fraud.

For the capacity building, Deputy Minister said that although the Customs has actively reviewed and restructured its forces and developed criteria to assess the work of Customs officers, it should further enhance the staff training, which is a regular task, especially in the context where the management policies and procedures are always changing.
