Mr. Le Nguyen Linh, Deputy Manager of Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch said that the shipment was in Tri Nguyen Import Export Commodity Logistics Co., Ltd name (located at 3/4 Phan Van Su, Tan Binh District, HCMC) as a consignee. After the shipment arrived Cat Lai port, through the information collection, Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch detected a sign of trade fraud. Hence they conduct inspection through the scanner.

The image from scanner showed that the shipment contained many refrigerators and air-conditioners so Customs Branch issued a decision to inspect. As a result, all the goods were refrigeration products including air-conditioners, refrigerators, washing machine,… that have been used and under the list of prohibited import.

According to Mr.Linh, in order to detect that prohibited shipment, Customs Enforcement Group of Customs Branch has researched shipment’s dossier then discovered that shipment had been transferred to many countries before arriving in Vietnam. Specifically, starting from Japan, the shipment was port-transshipment in Shenzhen (China), then transport to a port in Hong Kong. After that, it was transported to Cat Lai port (HCMC).

Earlier, on 6/6 and 15/5, Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch inspected and detected 2 containers of prohibited goods that were used refrigeration products.
