Discover a case of illegal import of auxiliary device via airway

VCN – Through inspection of 2 packages of passenger V.T.D (was born in 1970) who took a flight NH833 from US to Vietnam and transited in Tokyo, Customs authority detected 3 guns, 2 daggers and 1 pair of handcuffs.

When inspecting the lost packages importing in the flight from US to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Entry Luggage Customs Procedures Team – Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch detected some auxiliary devices were hidden among personal belongings including 3 guns, 2 daggers and 1 pair of handcuffs. Those items are being verified.

According to Entry Luggage Customs Procedures Team, after detecting suspicious signs from 2 lost packages importing from the US, the Customs authority coordinated with Airport operation unit to contact and request the owner of the lost packages to come for working procedure. At the same time, witnessing the inspection of those suspected package.

According to the initial confession of the male passenger, the above items were bought from the US at very cheap prices and brought to Vietnam for use. It is known that he lost the packages after arriving at Tan Son Nhat Airport.

Currently, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch is cooperating with competent authorities to investigate for clarifying the purpose of buying and using the above weapons, especially to clarify whether this passenger is participating in any organization in Vietnam and abroad or not.

Earlier, a 41-year-old male passenger, a Vietnamese national living in Hanoi, was discovered by Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch hiding 3 revolvers and 4 boxes of bullets (prohibited items) inside his suitcase with personal belongings when he was doing entry procedures on a flight from France to Vietnam.
