Ensure goods clearance during nationwide  social distancing

VCN- After Directive No.16/CT-TTg dated March 31 of the Prime Minister on urgent measures to prevent and control Covid-19 was issued, the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVC) issued an Official Letter directing its subordinate units to perform many contents to both ensure prevention of the pandemic and customs management.

Accordingly, the GDVC required units to closely follow the Government's instructions in preventing and fighting Covid-19.

Heads of units are responsible for strictly directing and implementing the directions of the Party and Government, Directive 15/ CT-TTg dated March 27, 2020, Directive 16 / CT-TTg dated March 31, 2020 of the Prime Minister; National Steering Committee, Ministry of Health, Official Letter 3756/ BTC-TCCB dated March 31, 2020 of the Ministry of Finance; local authorities and the guidance of local health authorities on prevention and control Covid-19; responsible for civil servant, employees and staff infected with the disease because they do not strictly comply with the regulations on prevention and control in the workplace.

The GDVC also requested units ensure customs management. Heads of units must assign officers to perform the following tasks during the period of preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic: customs clearance for imported, exported and transited goods; imported, exported and transited vehicles; luggage of people on entry or exit; anti-smuggling and investigations and online surveillance; maintenance of the operation of information technology system and the user support system.

In addition to these tasks and other necessary tasks as the request of the units’ leaders such as being on duty, processing confidential documents, ensuring office safety, other work is performed online. The number of officers working directly at the office must be at a minimum.

The GDVC also directed the Information Technology and Customs Statistics Department to ensure that the IT system operates smoothly 24/7.

It required specialised units to perform tasks to both ensure the prevention of pandemic as well as operational activities.

Municipal and provincial customs departments shall base on their actual situation and the GDVC’s instructions to direct their subordinate units to perform work and prevent the pandemic.
