Hanoi Customs collected more than 400 billion VND of tax

VCN – On September 3, at the montly meeting organised by the Propaganda and training commission of Hanoi municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Truong Giang, Deputy Director of Hanoi Customs Department, described the operation of Hanoi Customs in recent times.

On working results in the first eight months of 2019, he said that by the end of August, Hanoi Customs Department had collected 14,866 billion VND, equivalent to 69.14 percent of current appropriation (equalling 106 percent of the same period in 2018); Hanoi area collected 11,473 billion VND, equivalent to 66 percent of current appropriation (110 percent of the same period in 2018).

Besides that, Hanoi Customs Department has promoted the work of fighting against loss of revenue and collecting tax debts. The department issued Decision No. 524/QD-HQHN dated April 10, 2019 on assigning target of collecting and handlingoverdue debt. As a result, they have been recovered 32.22/47.6 billion VND, equivalent to 67.6 percent of the target.

Hanoi Customs Department has assigned targets of post-clearance audit tasks in 2019 to Customs Branches, so far, they have collected 403.47/130 billion VND, equivalent to 310.4 percent of the target (214 percent in the same period of 2018).

Regarding the results of fighting commercial fraud and law violations in management, according to Giang, from the beginning of 2019, the Hanoi Customs Department has detected and handled 623 cases of smuggling, including 19 drug-related cases. Handling 594 cases of administrative violations in customs field with the total amount of monetary was 48.4 billion VND. At the same time, detecting and seizure 141.13 kg of rhino horn and 16.581kg of ivory.

According to the Deputy Director of Hanoi Customs Department, they also implemented two specialised projects: controlling smuggling and illegal transportation of wildlife products and combating smuggling and illegal transportation of cigars under its management.

As a result, Hanoi Customs Department seized 141.13 kg of rhino horn, 16.581kg of ivory and 10,375 cigars of all kind. Thereby, prosecuting a South African person who transported 14.2kg of rhino horn.

This customs authority has developed a peak campaign against smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeit goods in period of before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2019; plan of patrol and control in 2019 and plan for inspection and self-inspection of handling administrative violations in 2019; Propagandise to provide information for customs declarants and taxpayers in 2019.

Along with that, the Department has deployed the Praesidio campaign on the illegal transport of wild animals and plants across the border of the World Customs Organization.
