Huu Nghi Customs: Increasing cargo clearance brings out many positive signals

VCN - In the past nine months, the volume of goods imported and exported through Huu Nghi international border gate has increased, leading to a rise in the value of import and export turnover by nearly 65% over the same period in 2020.

In the past two years, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, import and export activities of enterprises faced many difficulties. However, with the determination to accompany businesses, Huu Nghi Customs Branch (Lang Son Customs Department) actively coordinated with competent forces in the area to implement solutions.

Talking to Customs News, a representative of Huu Nghi Customs Branch said that, due to the turbulence of the pandemic, both Vietnam and China have applied pandemic control measures at the highest level, so the volume of goods cleared during the day slowed down.

Huu Nghi Customs arranges customs officers to receive and process procedures from 7am and until all declarations are processed in order to support cargo clearance activities of enterprises. In particular, the unit had to arrange customs officers to work and handle procedures until 10pm on many days.

The unit has also arranged customs officers to work in shifts in order to prepare for the scenario that if the infection occurs, the unit still maintains professional processes and customs clearance of import and export goods.

Accordingly, the unit has received and handled clearance procedures for about 700 trucks every day.

According to statistics, since the beginning of the year, the unit has completed procedures for 27,683 sets of declarations, up 9% over the same period in 2020 with a total turnover of $1,689 million, an increase of nearly 65% compared to the same period in 2020. In particular, the import-export turnover in September has increased compared to the same period in 2020, the main reason is an increase in a number of items, such as automobiles, machinery, equipment and spare parts.

With the increase in total turnover, it shows a positive signal in revenue collection through the management area. Accordingly, by the end of September 15, the unit has collected VND4,730 billion, increasing by 106.5 percent over the same period in 2020 and reaching 155.1 percent of the assigned target.

According to a representative of Huu Nghi Customs Branch to achieve the above results, the unit has strengthened the connection between Customs - Business, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities through the area, thereby, the imports and exports rose not only in the 3rd quarter of 2021 but also, all activities here have been maintained at the maximum level and the congestion has been solved from the beginning of the year.

With these achievements, many enterprises engaging in import-export activities through the area evaluated and recognized the efforts of the Customs authority in general and Huu Nghi Customs Branch in the facilitation of cargo clearance. Especially, during the outbreak of the pandemic, Huu Nghi Customs sought all solutions, actively exchanged and negotiated with the Chinese authority to facilitate cargo clearance; increase working time, support businesses 24/7. It has helped business activities and production of enterprises to be maintained stably, reducing costs, travel time and clearance of goods.

According to many businesses, Huu Nghi Customs not only actively finds all solutions to remove difficulties and accompany businesses, but also constantly disseminates new policies and regulations of the Customs sector as well as new information and policies of the Chinese authority for businesses to grasp, learn and take the initiative in transporting goods to the border gate.

Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch said that, from now until the end of the year, despite the serious impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the prospect of recovery and growth in import and export turnover was very positive, because many businesses have planned to implement import-export contracts of goods for production and business after the period of social distancing due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Therefore, in the future, with the motto of accompanying and standing side by side with businesses, Huu Nghi Customs will continue to find all solutions to solve problems arising in customs procedures. Timely coordination with competent forces at the border gate to create all conditions for enterprises to participate in import and export activities through Huu Nghi border gate.

At the same time, the unit will also actively catch up with changes in import and export management policies of China, especially quality management, quarantine, and traceability of export goods from Vietnam, pandemic control to promptly inform businesses for grasping the regulations in order to be proactive in cargo clearance, avoiding unnecessary damage.
