The revenue rises thanks to wind power projects

According to Khanh Hoa Customs Department, the department’s revenue is mainly from imported petroleum products. However, in the first quarter of the year, the value of petroleum products plunged 29.53% to VND51.98 million compared to a year ago, causing a decrease of 16.47% year-on-year to VND336.67 billion in petroleum revenue, and accounting for 51.79% of the total department’s revenue.

At the same time, the department has refunded the overpaid tax, causing a decline in the revenue of over VND121 billion.

Notably, the revenue from wind power and solar power projects at Khanh Hoa Customs Department in the first quarter saw a year-on-year surge of 71.55% to VND336.23 billion, accounting for 47.49% of the department’s revenue.

The revenue from other products also rose, making up for the shortfall in revenue from petroleum products. For example, fishery products increased 50.36% to US$78.76 million; iron, steel and iron and steel products surged 83.74% to US$45.53 million; machinery, equipment and spare parts soared 36.29% to US$171.12 million; tobacco ingredients rose 141.7% to US$6.26 million compared with the same previous year.

Working to maintain the revenues

The local customs department is assigned a revenue target of VND2,275 billion in 2022. Since the beginning of the year, the department has strictly complied with the directions of leaders on effective pandemic prevention and control while ensuring customs control and facilitating enterprises in customs clearance.

The department’s leader has issued a plan to implement solutions to facilitate trade and improve the effectiveness of the state management and anti-revenue loss in performing the revenue collection in 2022. The department has applied modern customs control methods and expedited information technology application; streamlined customs procedures, reduced customs clearance time and created favorable conditions for enterprises.

In the first quarter alone, the local customs department processed 221 customs dossiers on the VNACCS system and completed procedures for 217 dossiers. In addition, the department has carried out procedures for 169 vehicles on entry and exit, increasing 6.29%; 13,827 passengers on exit and entry, rising by 180% compared with the same period in 2021; processed procedures for 53 ships on entry and exit and 342 import and export declarations.

Since February 15, Vietnam has removed restrictions on passenger transport on international regular and irregular flights. Khanh Hoa Customs Department has directed the Cam Ranh International Airport Customs Branch to prepare human resources and execute solutions to support and process customs procedures for flights.

In addition, the department has strengthened the anti-smuggling and trade fraud; applied risk management in the customs process for luggage of passengers on entry and exit; strictly controlled the area, and effectively coordinated with relevant units to improve the effectiveness of the fight against smuggling and maintain revenue for the state budget.
