The import-export goods are rising
Representatives of Lang Son Customs Department said that since the beginning of the year, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused many difficulties for import-export activities through Lang Son province. The total import-export turnover as of September 15 was only $1,687.6 million, down 27.9% over the same period, and the unit's budget revenue was only VND2,586 billion, reaching 76.1% of the assigned target (VND3,400 billion).
However, entering the fourth quarter, many enterprises actively carried out import procedures for raw materials for the production of year-end orders, which helped the situation and import-export activities at Lang Son border gates witness positive changes.
Most imported and exported goods in Lang Son province have been processed through Huu Nghi international border gate. The Customs Branch of Huu Nghi International Border Gate is the unit that contributes over 80% of the budget revenue of Lang Son Customs Department.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Nga, Deputy Director of Huu Nghi Customs Branch, said that by the end of December 15, the unit's revenue had reached more than VND3,400 billion, exceeding 16.1% over the same period in 2019 and reached 119.6% of the assigned target (VND2,850 billion), accounting for over 85% of the total revenue of the Department. During the year, the import-export turnover of some products decreased, but the turnover of mobile phones (this item is not delayed due to the pandemic) with budget revenue of about VND100 billion.
According to Ms. Nga, a number of traditional products such as machinery, equipment, materials for construction and installation and domestic production imported through Huu Nghi border gate in recent months have increased, signaling domestic production is slowly recovering and operating normally. Along with promoting and facilitating exported goods, Huu Nghi Customs also strengthened inspection, control, anti-smuggling, and especially anti-commercial fraud.
As of December 15, the state budget revenue at Lang Son Customs Department exceeded the target assigned by the General Department of Customs on November 25 (VND3,800 billion).
Efforts to increase revenue
Mr. Nguyen Huu Vuong, Deputy Director of Lang Son Customs Department, said that the unit is continuing to implement solutions to strive for the highest budget collection. In which, drastically implementing measures for budget revenue according to Directive 1040/CT-TCHQ on the synchronous implementation of solutions to facilitate trade and combat revenue loss in 2020; directing the border-gate customs sub-departments to strengthen the inspection, review, and urge the units to carry out the valuation and classification of goods codes according to regulations.
In parallel with solutions in budget collection, in order to strictly control the situation of smuggled goods on the occasion of the Tet holiday, Lang Son Customs has instructed the border gate customs units and the Customs Enforcement team to strengthen the management of transported goods subject to the supervision of the customs offices in the forms of temporary import for re-export, transshipment, transit, border gate transfer and bonded warehouses. Strengthening coordination with functional forces at the border to patrol and monitor; sending cadres and civil servants to take part in key positions in order to prevent, control, and fight smuggling and trade fraud activities at the end of the year.
