Nghe An – Ha Tinh road border gate is ready to welcome tourists and goods when Laos opens the gate

VCN - Representatives of customs units in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces said that they have prepared, arranged human resources, and created the best conditions to be ready to carry out procedures for import and export goods, vehicles and passengers on entry and exit when Laos officially opened the country after the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the information of the Government of Lao PDR, Laos has officially announced it will open the country from May 9 onwards. This is one of the Government's policies to attract and create the most favorable conditions for tourists when entering Laos.

On May 9, Mr. Le Minh Duc, Director of Cau Treo Customs Branch (Ha Tinh Customs Department) said that the unit also grasped information of the reopening of the Government of Lao PDR. In order to facilitate all import and export activities of goods and vehicles, passengers on entry and exit of the two countries to take place smoothly, the unit had planned to arrange staff to perform duties, as well as receive and handle procedures.

Specifically, at the place of receiving procedures, customs officers would create conditions in the process of checking and monitoring documents, import and export goods in order to minimize clearance time for businesses. In addition, the unit also requested customs officers to closely coordinate with the Border Defence force to guide and channel vehicles so that import and export activities could take place smoothly, avoiding congestion at the border gate.

According to Mr. Le Minh Duc, National Highway 8 leading to Cau Treo international border gate is being repaired, so when transporting goods to this area, it would cause many difficulties for vehicles when moving goods in both directions.

Therefore, the facilitation of competent forces at the border gate, including the Customs force, is also one of the solutions to improve the efficiency of clearance for goods, vehicles and passengers entering and leaving the border gate area.

Also at Nam Can international border gate (Nghe An), Mr. Phan Van Nham, Director of Nam Can Customs Branch (Nghe An Customs Department), said that the unit was also deploying many solutions, arranging staff to perform duties 24/7 in order to handle the procedures and dossiers of enterprises and customs declarants when required.

At the same time, the unit would closely coordinate with competent forces at the border gate to check and monitor vehicles and passengers on entry and exit effectively.
