According to the National Steering Committees 389, 2021 is the first year of implementing the Plan to combat smuggling, commercial fraud and counterfeit goods in e-commerce activities (Plan 399/KH-BCD389 dated October 10, 2021), aiming at improving the efficiency of fighting against violations using technological devices in cyberspace.
In order to create a consensus for competent forces of ministries, government agencies and localities in identifying tricks and handling violations, the leaders of the National Steering Committee 389 requested the Standing Office to organize the National Online Training Conference on November 12, 2021.
During the implementation of Plan 399, although online business activities are very complicated and it is difficult to identify violators because suspects often use technology to delete their traces, the prevention of smuggling, commercial fraud and trading in fake goods via e-commerce activities has achieved positive results.
The Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (under Ministry of Industry and Trade) has provided information about over 300 violations related to the operation of e-commerce websites and applications to the General Department of Market Surveillance, the Departments of Market Surveillance of Hanoi and HCM City and police departments of HCM City, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Dak Nong, Hai Phong, Phu Tho and Lang Son.
The department recommended that e-commerce platforms remove over 14,000 products and more than 4,300 infringing stalls.
The General Department of Taxation has implemented many positive solutions such as supporting, guiding, and suggesting taxpayers to declare and pay taxes; expediting the collection and sanctions through inspection and examination of business activities on foreign social networking sites (such as Google, Facebook, Youtube); strengthening tax administration for large corporations and technology companies in the world and websites engaged in cross-border e-commerce activities with income in Vietnam.
In the first 10 months of 2021, the tax sector earned VND1,181.51 billion in revenue from cross-border e-commerce activities.
