VCN- Regarding the information of the Customs officers behaving badly when communicating with a passenger at Noi Bai International Airport, Deputy Director of Ha Noi Customs Department Tran Quoc Dinh said that the Department convened the leader of Noi Bai Airport Customs Branch and all relevant Customs officers to identify their responsibility in carrying out Customs procedures and communicating with a passenger on the flight No. VN 385 from Japan to Ha Noi on 17th December 2017, and temporarily suspended the Customs officers’ duties to explain and clarify the incident.

Besides, the two violators are Mai The Hung and Do The Luong, who did not wear uniform in accordance with regulations of the Customs sector, behaved incorrectly to a passenger and were temporarily suspended of their duties to consider the disciplinary forms. Ha Noi Customs Department has requested 6 Customs officers, including 3 Customs officers present in the clip, 2 Team leaders and 1 Deputy Manager in charge of the working day, to temporarily suspend their duties to determine their responsibility in the incident.

Mr. Dinh said, the Customs authority will review the matter and reconsider the relevant officers to clarify each Customs officer’s responsibility. After clarifying the violation, the Customs authority will apply the disciplinary forms based on the level of the violation. For the Customs officers who wrongly performed their task and responsibility, the Customs authority will consider the disciplinary forms.

Previously, a clip on Customs officers of Noi Bai International Airport inspecting the goods of a passenger on entry at Noi Bai Airport on 17th December 2017 was posted on the mass media and social network. During the inspection, a contradiction incurred between the two sides. The passenger complained that the Customs officers behaved incorrectly and that Noi Bai Customs required a bribe.

After inspecting the information, Ha Noi Customs Department verified the incident and checked the authenticity of the clip and information from the passenger and reports of relevant Customs officers.

The result of initial investigation showed that the 2 Customs officers who are Mai The Hung and Do The Luong, did not wear uniform in accordance with Customs sector regulations. They behaved incorrectly to the passenger and had not complied with regulations, causing consternation for the passenger.

The information on the Customs officers requesting a bribe in the clip said by the female passenger, the verification result showed that this information is false. This information is one way thinking and may arise from the passenger’s consternation and deduction.

Ha Noi Customs Department will review and consider Customs officers working in Noi Bai International Airport. For the Customs officers who can not meet work pressure, the Department will consider removing them to other positions and assign Customs officers who do have the ability and professionalism to meet the requirements, contributing to creating the image of Customs officers who are disciplined, friendly and strictly perform and abide by the provisions of the State.

Currently, the Customs has continuously clarified the incident.
