The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the first half of February-2023, Vietnam’s total exports of US dollars 13.44 billion and imports of US dollars 12.38 billion resulted in a trade surplus of nearly US dollars 1.07 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the first half of February was US dollars 25.82 billion, went up by 42.8% (equal to USD 7.74 billion) as compared to the second half of January-2023.

Vietnam‘s trade-in-goods from January to the first half of February of 2023 totaled US dollars 72.32 billion in value terms. It posted a decrease of 13.7% (equivalent to USD 11.46 billion) from the same period of previous year.

In the view of FDI traders, the total value of exportation and importation in the first 2 months of 2023 reached USD 51.8 billion respectively, down by 11.5% as compared to the same period of 2022.

Export:

When compared with the second half of January-2023, export of first half of February up by 49% mostly as a result of the upward registered in computer, electrical products (up by 53.9% - USD 718 million equally); machine, equipment, tools and instruments (up by 47.7% - USD 560 million); textiles and garments (up by 77.9% - USD 528 million equally).

Import:

In the first half of February 2023, import increased by 36.6% when compared with second half of January, mainly reflecting the widen of computer, electrical products (up by 24.6% - USD 645 million equally); machine, tools and equipments (up by 43.9% - USD 465 million equally); plastics (up by 100.2% - USD 203 million equally).

Highlights 1. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in February 2023, a 5.9% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. Exports went up US dollars 10.3%, to US dollars 26.05 billion and imports increased 1.3%, to US dollars 23.25 billion in terms of month-on-month basis. The Vietnam Customs Statistics announced that in the second half of February, 2023 the total Vietnam’s exports of US dollars 12.47 billion and imports of nearly US dollars 10.69 billion resulted in a trade surplus of US dollars 1.78 billion. Accordingly, the total value of export and import turnover of Vietnam in the second half of February was over US dollars 23.16 billion, down by 10.3% as compared to the first half of February-2023. Furthermore, in the first 2 months of 2023, Vietnam was in trade surplus of USD 3.44 billion.

According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in the first month of 2023, a 17.3% downward in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of December 2022. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in December 2022, a 1.7% downwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of the last month. According to trade statistics of Vietnam Customs, in October 2022, a 0.1% upwards in total external merchandise turnover of Vietnam was recorded as compared to the result of September 2022. Exports went up 1.9 %, to USD 30.37 billion and imports decreased 1.7%, to USD 27.90 billion in terms of month-on- month basis. As a result, there was a USD 2.47 billion surplus in Vietnam’s trade balance in this month.
