Many businesses attracted to carry out customs procedures

As of November 15, the Quang Ninh Customs Department attracted 1,216 enterprisers to carry out procedures at the province, increasing by 6.8% compared with the previous year.

The branch processed 78,125 declarations. The total trade rose 32% to US$11 billion year-on-year.

Talking to Customs News, the Deputy Director of the Quang Ninh Customs Department, Trinh Van Nhuan, said, “despite the turbulent development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the department has held five consultation conferences and diversified methods to resolve problems for businesses. The department has actively invited local government agencies to participate in each conference to remove difficulties for businesses. Over 3,000 businesses’ questions have been answered by the customs branches and consultation teams.”

“As of early November, the revenue from the two major items, imported petroleum products and coal, decreased by VND2, 600 billion. However, resulting from the great efforts in attracting businesses by the department’s officers, the import and export turnover surged, making up for the missed revenue by about VND 1,000 billion” Trinh Van Nhuan said.

For example, according to the plan in 2021, the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group and Dong Bac Cooperation would import about five million tons of coal. However, as of early November, the two major importers in the coal sector have not yet imported any coal shipments, due to the surge in global coal prices and the domestic demand.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam National Petroleum Group reduced the quantity of imports in order to consume finished products of domestic refineries and petrochemical plants, under the Government's management.

Continuing facilitating trade

Recently, the Quang Ninh Customs Department issued a plan on implementing solutions to support importers of cars, electronic components, phones, machinery and equipment.

The Municipal Customs Department has diversified support methods by committing to create the most favorable conditions for the imports of businesses. On the other hand, the Department has held dialogue conferences to support businesses in the customs process and responded in a timely fashion on legal policies and regulations to businesses via email and messages.

The local customs department has arranged experienced and professional officers to assist businesses and ensure customs clearance operates 24/7. It has also coordinated with other local government agencies at the border gate to give priority to businesses in customs processes at Bac Luan 2 (Mong Cai City). It has grasped the difficulties of enterprises and proposed competent authorities to promptly solve their problems.

The department will advise the People's Committee of Mong Cai City to organize a meeting with competent agencies at Bac Luan 2. This will give representatives of businesses the priority in loading and unloading goods and the cost of transport in and out of the yard. At the same time, it will propose local governments to work with the Dong Hung Trade of China to quickly process procedures for licensing Chinese transport across the Bac Luan 2 Bridge to Vietnam, and vice versa. They will also deliver and receive imported goods, ensuring quick customs clearance, the limiting of vehicle storage and preventing the increase in costs for businesses.
