Through exchange with leaders of the Import-Export Duty Department (Quang Ninh Customs Department), based on reviewing tax debts, the unit has assigned targets of tax debt recovery to customs branches with the amount of tax VND 2.74 billion arising from 2019 and earlier.
At present, there are no new tax debts for Quang Ninh Customs.
Specifically, through monitoring of tax debt management, Quang Ninh Customs has proactively reviewed, assessed and classified debts, from that suggesting appropriate solutions for debt recovery.
They were: conducting coercive measures for tax debt recovery such as: verifying and deducting money from accounts; blocking accounts; announcing invoices are no longer valid for use; coordinate closely with authorities (Tax, Police, Department of Planning and Investment) and local authorities to implement coercive measures to recover the debt.
As a result, in 2019, the whole department recovered VND1.58 billion, 58 percent of the target (VND 2.74 billion).
Quang Ninh Customs found through tax debts collection, there was a problem for businesses paying tax debts when updating the automatic system of calculating the amount of late payment, so it led to total debt of the enterprise not changing.
Currently, there was no law to encourage businesses to cooperate in paying tax debts, which is also a major difficulty and challenge in the process of tax debt recovery by the Customs authority.
Quang Ninh Customs Department expected to have a revised legal document soon to support organisations and individuals which voluntarily pay tax debts to the State budget.
