Renovate management following the smart customs model

At the meeting, Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh said the goal of the General Department of Vietnam Customs is to renovate management methods following the smart customs model, with the simplest and smartest management. Besides that, the Customs Development Strategy for 2021 - 2030 is also being formulated by the General Department of Vietnam Customs towards that goal.

“The view of the General Department of Vietnam Customs is to apply the best and the most management model of the private sector to State management, in addition to fully applying the benefits of the fourth industrial revolution (4.0) bring in management and operating activities," Deputy Director General Mai Xuan Thanh emphasised.

Therefore, the General Department of Vietnam Customs wanted to listen to businesses and experts, on the basis of the current situation to give the best recommendations for the changing goals of the Customs authority.

At the meeting, a representative of the TFP project stated that the project was ready and assisted the General Department of Vietnam Customs to implement such objectives, determining the future goals would help to make planning steps easier.

From that goal, at the meeting, delegates presented specific suggestions and orientations on administrative procedure reform, trade facilitation and improving customs management capacity.

Also related to administrative reform, previously, the General Department of Vietnam Customs sent a document to multinational corporations asking to share information related to management practices of other national customs authorities that enterprise deals with.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, the information was shared by enterprises so the Customs authorities have a practical basis to meet the management requirements and facilitate the operation of enterprises operating in processing, export production, export processing in the coming time.

At present, the General Department of Vietnam Customs is amending and supplementing legal documents, at the same time completing and redesigning overall customs procedures and procedures to ensure management of the customs authority.

These changes will contribute to improving the business environment, enhancing national competitiveness, and improving Vietnam's cross-border trade transaction index.
