Reviewing import commodity "outsourced white glass"

The Customs Departments of provinces and cities will have to review records of commodities which are related to imported "outsourced white glass " within 5 years from the date of clearance.

According to the analysis of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, "glass" commodity of heading 70.05 "Float glass and shattered or polished surface glass, in sheets, whether or not coated with absorbent, reflecting or non-reflecting, but not otherwise outsourcing", the import duty rate is 35% or 40% depending on the type or uncoated heat absorption layer. Do not apply special preferential tax.

"Glass" commodity of heading 70.06 "glass headings 70.03, 70.04 or 70.05, bent, edge processing, engraving, drilling, coated or otherwise outsourcing, but not framed or fitted with other materials" , codes 7006.00.90, import tax rate of 30%, special preferential tax rate of C/O form E is 0%.

However, according to General Department of Vietnam Customs, through the review and reports of some Customs units, there is a phenomenon that enterprises can take advantage of declared goods under code 7006.00.90, present or owe C/O form E to receive special preferential tax rate of 0%.

Therefore, in order to timely treat and prevent this phenomenon, General Department of Vietnam Customs has requested subordinated Customs units of provinces and cities to review records and commodities which are related to import goods which have declared name including combinations phrase "outsourced white glass" for a period of 5 years from the date of clearance to define categories of imported goods of heading 70.05 or 70.06, redefining codes, tariffs, implementation of fixed taxes (if available) in accordance with regulations.
