Seize smuggled shipment of over 300 sets of used air conditioner at Cai Lai port
The container was full of used air conditioners. |
On 24/5, at Cat Lai port, Customs Enforcement Unit has coordinated to Saigon port area 1 Customs Branch, Chon Thanh Customs Branch – Binh Phuoc Customs Department and Department of Crime Prevention of Smuggling (C74) – Ministry of Public Security to inspect a shipment transport from Japan to Cat Lai port and detected inside containing smuggled and prohibited goods.
According to Customs Enforcement Unit, the above shipment was in name of Trong Nguyen Import & Export Commodity Logistic Transport Service Trading Co., Ltd (59 Nguyen Quang Bich Street, Ward 1, Tan Binh District, HCMC) in the Customs declaration.
The company opened online Customs declaration at Chon Thanh Customs Branch – Binh Phuoc Customs Department from 16th May 2017, declared information of goods was used steel polisher.
Discovering suspicious signs from this import container, the Customs Enforcement Unit has executed Decision to inspect a shipment in order to stop business’s violation.
As a result, the unit found that there were 326 outdoor units, 319 indoor units; 24 washing machines and 18 rice cookers. All used goods are on the list of prohibited goods from import.
Currently, the Customs Enforcement Team is appraising all cargoes and extending the investigation to clarify the case.
