"When completing the verification procedures and clearly identifying the signs of violation, Customs will confiscate the cars in Hai Phong and the import case of Chinese cars in Ho Chi Minh City," Nguyen Hung Anh said.
Also, on the afternoon of October 6, acting Director of Hai Phong Customs Department Nguyen Duy Ngoc said that the unit is handling the case as mentioned by the leader of the Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department.
As reported, on October 31, during the Customs process, Dinh Vu port Customs Branch detected the shipment of imported cars displaying images of the “nine-dash line” map on the navigation application screen that violates the sovereignty of Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
All seven passenger cars (5-seat type) of all kinds, Hanteng brand, made in China, are 100% new, have the navigation application screen with image suspected as the map "nine-dash line".
When these cars start, the information appears on the screen.
According to the initial inspection of the Customs office, the enterprise registering to carry out import procedures for the above shipment is Hoa Mai Automobile Co., Ltd. (address: National Highway 10, Quoc Tuan Commune, An Lao District, Hai Phong city).
The shipment had customs declaration opened on October 29, 2019, at Dinh Vu port Customs Branch
Currently, Dinh Vu Port Customs Branch has sent a document and photos to the Department of Survey, Mapping and Geographic information of Vietnam (under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment) to request coordination, inspection and identification of signs of violations.

Meanwhile, regarding the illegal "nine-dash line" map on a Volkswagen Touareg car temporarily imported to participate in an exhibitions in Ho Chi Minh City, based on the opinions of the concerned ministries and sectors, the Publication Law and documents guiding the implementation of the Publication Law, the General Department of Customs directed the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department to handle towards the administrative sanction and confiscation of the Volkswagen Touareg CR745J car.
According to the latest information from the General Department of Customs, by the end of September, the country imported 4,040 CBU cars from China, worth more than $162.5 million. Although the above number is not comparable with the two largest markets, Thailand and Indonesia, CBU cars imported from China are also much more than traditional markets of Vietnam such as South Korea, Japan, and the United States. Notably, compared to the same period in 2018, the volume of CBU cars imported from China has witnessed rapid growth. Specifically, the import volume is 5.3 times higher, while the turnover is 8.6 times higher (in the same period last year, it was only 761 cars worth $ 18.9 million). |
