Four outstanding achievements
On October 28, 2019, Hai Phong Customs Department and HCM City Customs Department signed a coordination regulation to strengthen the coordination and information exchange to improve the efficiency of the two departments’ performance.
Director of Hai Phong Customs Department Nguyen Duy Ngoc said the two departments have regularly cooperated and shared experience, initiatives and reform over the past years.
Notably, operational divisions have exchanged opinions and advised the leader of the departments to propose solutions to the General Department of Vietnam Customs to remove problems and shortcomings in performance to ensure efficiency in customs management.
The two departments have also implemented key projects on customs modernization and reform and give an opinion to specialized operation to develop digital customs and smart customs model.

The two sides have also provided information related to targeted suspects and new tricks of suspects, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and control of areas.
The department has exchanged experience in management, operation and use of “Service quality assessment system of officer and units under the Department in customs process”; shared experience in running VASSCM system, and supportive software in internal control, direction and administration of leaders at all levels.
The collaboration should be expanded
Director of HCM City Customs Department Dinh Ngoc Thang said HCM City Customs and Hai Phong departments have actively coordinated to accomplish their tasks and contribute to the achievements of their Customs sector.

Through the collaboration between the two departments, Director Dinh Ngoc Thang said the effective coordination between the local customs departments plays a key role in fulfilling the target of the Customs sector.
To achieve further efficiency soon, the leaders of the two departments proposed to be received the direction and facilitation from the General Department of Vietnam Customs, and the cooperation of departments under the General Department of Vietnam Customs, especially in removing difficulties and problems for local customs units.
At the conference to review the 3-year implementation of the Coordination Regulation between Hai Phong Customs Department and HCM City Customs Department and exchange experiences in customs management (held at Hai Phong Customs Department on September 10), Deputy Director General of the General Department of Vietnam Customs Mai Xuan Thanh highly appreciated the initiative and efficiency of the coordination between the two departments.
The coordination should be expanded in local customs departments across the country, said the Deputy Director General.
Currently, HCM City Customs Department and Hai Phong Customs Department are the two departments that earn the highest revenue in the entire Customs sector. According to the statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, HCM City Customs Department’s revenue increased by 18.1% year on year to VND93,588.5 billion, meeting 80.31% of the estimate. Hai Phong Customs Department earns VND51,746.36 billion, reaching 81.32% of the forecast, up 16.67% compared with the previous year. A revenue of VND145,304.86 billion, the two departments have contributed 49% of the total revenue of the customs sector in the first eight months of the year. In addition, HCM City Customs Department, Hai Phong Customs Department and Bac Ninh Customs Department are three departments achieving the highest revenue in the entire sector, worth over US$ 100 billion. |
