Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs arrest man with cocaine in stomach
77 capsules containing cocaine swallowed by the male passenger were seized by the competent force. |
In particular, Tan Son Nhat International Airport Customs Branch coordinated with Anti-Drug Criminal Investigation Police Department (C04) – Ministry of Public Security, Anti-Drug Criminal Investigation Police Division (PC04) – HCM City Police, Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department – General Department of Vietnam Customs, Anti-Drugs Enforcement Unit – HCM City Customs Department and Tan Son Nhat aviation security center to arrest a Senegalese male passenger, 39 years old. He was on flight BL30 from Nigeria, travelling through Ethiopia, Thailand and Vietnam via Tan Son Nhat airport.

After completing entry procedures, the customs force has approached the suspect and performed an inspection. However, the passenger did not cooperate and was extremely aggressive towards customs officers. Thus the competent forces had to escort this man for additional screening.
Immediately, they detected items in his stomach. The competent force arrested the man and took him to Hospital Military Hospital 175. Doctors were able to remove the items from the man’s body.

As a result, the customs authorities seized a total of 77 capsules containing cocaine, with a total weight of nearly 1.6kg, swallowed by this male passenger in order to escape inspection competent forces. With such methods, this person moved through four countries and was only arrested when landing at Tan Son Nhat airport.
The drugs seized were worth up to billions of VND.
