VCN – Lang Son Customs Department proposes the General Department of Vietnam to equip two mobile vehicle scanners at Chi Ma and Tan Thanh Border Gates to strengthen customs inspection and control capacity and fight smuggling and trade fraud.

Tan Thanh and Chi Ma Border Gates need to be installed with vehicle scanners

Many smugglers have used garbage trucks to illegally transport goods in the border gates.

According to the local department, Chi Ma and Tan Thanh Border Gates are large and complex areas with huge volume of goods and means of transport.

Crime, smuggling and illegal transportation of drugs and goods across these border gates has been taken place in a complex manner. Criminals have used sophisticated tricks to commit violations.

According to competent agencies at these border gates, areas are facing a high risk of smuggling items such as firecrackers, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, counterfeit goods, goods infringing on intellectual property rights and unknown origin goods.

Although agencies have strengthened inspection and control at the border gates amid Covid-19 pandemic, illegal transportation of goods still occurs at Tan Thanh and Chi Ma Border Gates.

Lang Son Customs Department said the installation of modern equipment needs at the two border gates to support detection of violations of individuals and enterprises is necessary.
