Customs Newspaper No. 145(2543) dated 4th December 2017, published an article with the title, “The sea port system in Viet nam: Not make use of many advantages”

Mr. Ho Kim Lan, General Secretary of the Vietnam Port Association (VPA) said that over 80% of the volume of Vietnam’s imported and exported containerized goods using sea ports and small ships caused higher costs for goods owners, the article quoted.

Mr. Lan analyzes that a container arriving at Cai Mep - Thi Vai Port instead of arriving at Cat Lai will save more than US $300. Currently, Vietnam’s import and export turnover rose to more than US $11 billion, but businesses are suffering high costs leading to losses of more than US $2.4 billion due to not using deep-water ports.
