The truth of the case that Da Nang airport has no cameras!

At the meeting with the tourism enterprises in 2018 organized by Da Nang City People's Committee, Mr. Che Viet Dong (a Chinese tour guide) reflected that Chinese tourists visiting Da Nang often asked why they have to pay 10 yuan (VND 30,000) for each exit or entry to the Customs at the airport without evidence for this payment because the exit area is prohibited from camera.

On 13th August 2018, sharing with reporters, the leader of Da Nang Customs Department said that the Department has requested the Da Nang International Airport Customs Branch to report on this issue.

Accordingly, the reflection of Che Viet Dong was not true. The Customs has never collected 10 yuan from passengers for implementation of Customs procedures.

Remarkably, according to Mr. Dong, the Customs clearance areas where passengers must pay money are not equipped with cameras.

Mr. Dong proposed to equip the camera system in the Customs areas at Da Nang airport.

However, the Director of Da Nang Customs Department Nguyen Tien Tho, said that all Customs areas at Da Nang airport are equipped with cameras which are directly linked with the headquarter of General Department of Customs in Hanoi.

In addition, the leader of Da Nang Customs Department is continuing to contact Mr. Che Viet Dong to get more information, if there is the case that Customs officers harass passengers, they will be severely punished.

Also in the morning of 13th August 2018, presenting at the online Customs supervision division (Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department under the GDC) we, reporters from customs Newspapers, recognized that transmission line from the camera system at Da Nang airport to the online Customs supervision division was smooth and clear.

According to the online customs supervision division, Da Nang airport is equipped with more than 150 cameras which are installed in all Customs operation areas, especially in the areas where Customs officers directly perform their tasks such as:

Entry/exit luggage Customs procedures areas, luggage storage, luggage conveyor, lobbies, scanning areas, duty free shops and etc.

It is known that through online Customs supervision division, the customs supervision division at the General Department of Customs has not detected the negative images and harassment of Customs officers at Da Nang airport.
