Urge preparation for APEC Leader’s Week 2017

At the meeting, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Customs Vu Ngoc Anh stated that the APEC Leader’s Week 2017 from 6 to 11 November 2017 was an important national event with a very large amount of international passengers to Da Nang. Besides, there was the participation of heads of state of 21 APEC member economies, so the smoothness of entry and exit procedures, security and safety must be ensured.
“In order to ensure facilitation and security at the same time, the Vietnam Customs will enhance resource of Anti-Smuggling and Investigation Department in collaboration with Da Nang Customs during the APEC week. Da Nang Customs should arrange resource and equipment to control and prepare measures to solve problems arising to prevent incidents” - Mr. Vu Ngoc Anh directed.
A representative of Da Nang Customs Department and Da Nang international airport Customs Branch reported on the preparation and the control of imports and exports, temporary import for re-export of equipment of international delegations.
Deputy Director of Da Nang Customs Department Dao The Nhat said that Da Nang Customs had assigned tasks to each units cooperating with the APEC organization committee, security subcommittees, health committee, port and aviation authority and security force to grasp information and schedules related to arrival and departure of the delegations.
Now, the Department had assigned 40 officers who were divided into 2 shifts serving 24/7 at the airport and arranged 4 officers good at foreign language and Customs operations at the channel of VIP APEC 2017.
Earlier, sharing with a Customs newspaper’s correspondent, Director of Da Nang international airport Customs Branch Nguyen Duy Nhat noted that Da Nang Customs had well prepared, ensured officers 24/24 at the Customs inspection points at the terminals of Da Nang international airport for receiving and processing Customs procedures quickly and respectfully and ensured security for arriving and leaving delegations.
Over the past time, the Branch had enhanced the training on Customs operation, reception, communication, screening skill and skills to prevent and deal with incidents, communication skill in foreign languages such as English, Korean and Chinese. Da Nang Customs Department also mobilized, moved and supplemented Customs civil servants for qualified and well-trained officers to meet the operations for APEC.
For equipment system, the international terminal T2 and VIP terminal have been well equipped, that meets the requirements of Customs administration such as: Baggage Scanning System; Camera surveillance system; suspect detection system; non-X-ray detectors to detect find prohibited goods; radioactive detection system, IT system ... In addition, the Branch has installed instruction boards for the channel classification of passengers on entry and exit and instruction boards for lane classification of APEC delegations and guests.

"The Branch has developed a specific plan to inspect and monitor the collaboration of related units in Da Nang international airport to ensure security and safety during the APEC week. Specifically, the Branch has developed and implemented the plan of red/green channels for flights to provide maximum facilitation and reduce the clearance time for entry and exit passengers” – Mr. Nhat stated.
