On the morning of 21st February 2018, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien and the delegation of the National Assembly has visited and checked the operation of the GDC. Joining the delegation was the Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh, Chairman of National Assembly’s Finance - Budget Committee Nguyen Duc Hai and Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai

Welcoming the delegation was the Director General of Customs Nguyen Van Can, Deputy Directors General and officers.

At the meeting, looking back on the country’s economic and social achievements in 2017, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed the great contribution of the Ministry of Finance and the Customs sector to the country’s general results.

About the Customs sector, the outstanding contributions are administrative reform, modernization to facilitate the import-export activities, anti-smuggling, protection of national sovereignty, economic security, domestic production, business activities and budget collection

On behalf of the leaders of the National Assembly, Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien recognized and appraised the results of the GDC.

About tasks of 2018, Mr. Phung Quoc Hien noted that the 2017 results have created a momentum for the deployment of tasks in 2018. However, in 2018 the Customs sector is still facing with many difficulties and challenges, especially in the context where the financial and budget situation is very hot. Besides, the signing and participation in many Free Trade Agreements will make the task of budget collection from import-export activities of the Customs sector to meet with many difficulties.

Therefore, he requested that in 2018, the GDC will continue to promote its 2017 results and try its best from the first days the first month of the year to reach assigned tasks.

"In the past few years, the GDC has been one of the leading sectors in reform and innovation, but it must continue to innovate, reform, try and work harder in Customs administrative reform and modernization to facilitate the import and export activities. Also, it is necessary to continue to attach importance to the training and retraining of cadres in order to raise the capacity and morality of cadres and civil servants; to concentrate well on carrying out the task of anti-smuggling, trade frauds and counterfeits; and to strive to complete and surpass the budget revenue target "- Vice President of National Assembly Phung Quoc Hien stressed.

Recognizing the urgent work spirit of the Customs sector right from the beginning of 2018 and the new Lunar New Year, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly believed that in 2018, the Customs will successfully achieve the assigned tasks.

Reporting to Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the delegation, Deputy Minister of Finance Vu Thi Mai and General Director Nguyen Van Can sincerely thanked the attention and facilitation of leaders of the National Assembly, the coordination of the agencies under the National Assembly for the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs.

The Director General Nguyen Van Can affirmed that the GDC will strictly follow the resolutions and plans for socio-economic development of the Government and the Ministry of Finance and the guidance of the Vice Chairman Phung Quoc Hien at the meeting and make every efforts to successfully reach the tasks in 2018.

"By the way, I call on all the officers in the Customs sector to grasp the guidance of the leaders of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Finance and the plans and resolutions for socio-economic development and to try their best from the first days, the first month of the year to contribute to successfully reaching the assigned tasks "- Director General Nguyen Van Can emphasized.
