What is procedure for self driving car travelling aboard?

VCN – The General Department of Vietnam Customs sent documents to provincial customs departments having land borders to instruct them to handle the procedure of exit from Vietnam for self-driving cars and motor travel aboard.

Earlier, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism suggested to have instructions on the implementation of customs procedure for vehicles of Vietnam travelling aboard via land border gates.

Pursuant to Decree No. 08/2015/ND-CP amended and supplemented in Decree No. 59/2018/ND-CP of the Government, based on the Ministry of Transport's opinions on solving temporary export and re-import procedures for Vietnamese cars and motorbikes to travel abroad via land border gates organised by Vietnamese international tour operators.

The General Department of Vietnam Customs provided the following guidance: For presenting written permission of the competent authority, the customs branch would base on the written request of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourismenclosed with a list of specific information of vehicles to carry out procedures for temporary export and re-import for Vietnamese cars and motorbikes traveling abroad via land border gates under provisions of Decree No. 08/2015/ND -CP amending and supplementing in Decree 59/2018/ND-CP of the Government.
