Import-export turnover reached more than US$46 billion
The Covid-19 pandemic in Bac Ninh province affected the production and business activities of import and export enterprises at Yen Phong Industrial Park. The revenue and the number of customs declarations of the Customs Branch at Yen Phong Industrial Park fell by 25% in May and June. In these two months, the customs branch processed about 20,000 declarations per month, an average of about 700 declarations per day.
In the third quarter, the Covid-19 pandemic in Hanoi also significantly affected the travel of customs officers. However, the customs branch at Yen Phong Industrial Park requested customs officers to make efforts to overcome difficulties and ensure operations at the unit.
Each customs officer must strictly follow pandemic prevention and control measures, and cooperate with officials at the quarantine checkpoints when travelling from Hanoi to the branch or vice versa.
A representative of the customs branch said the unit always followed the instructions of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, the General Department of Customs, and the Bac Ninh Customs Department on facilitating customs clearance, preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic by concretizing appropriate solutions. Therefore, the branch has always ensured the "dual goal" of preventing the pandemic and performing professional tasks, maximizing convenience for customs clearance activities in the area.
From the beginning of the year to October 6, the import-export turnover through the province reached more than US$46 billion. In which, export turnover reached nearly US$25 billion and import turnover reached more than US$21 billion. Ten-billion-dollar import and export commodities were mainly electronic components; raw materials and supplies for production, products of export processing enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises.
Raising revenues
The Customs Branch at Yen Phong Industrial Park currently has 30 enterprises that regularly carry out procedures, accounting for nearly 16% of the total number of enterprises carrying out customs procedures at the unit.
They are Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd (SEV); Samsung Display Vietnam Co., Ltd (SDV); Samsung SDI Vietnam Co., Ltd (SDIV) and companies: Crucialtec Vina, Synopex, Ottogi, 3M Vietnam etc.
A representative of the branch said the unit has taken measures to accompany and support businesses. Enterprises can directly call leaders of the branch or of teams. In addition, the branch also established a communication channel with businesses to actively listen to their opinions and grasp their situation to develop appropriate supportive measures and raise revenues. Any problems that businesses send to the branch are reviewed, analysed and answered. Creating maximum convenience for businesses in the customs operations has contributed to the development of the Customs-Business partnership for mutual development within the framework of the law.
Deputy Director of Century Logistics JSC (CLC), Nguyen Thi Phuong Hang said as a company that has more than 10 years working with the Customs Branch at Yen Phong Industrial Park, she highly appreciates the spirit and professional attitude of customs officers at Yen Phong Customs.
By contacting via phone or email, and social networking platforms, the branch has helped her company understand new policies related to imports and exports. Any problems related to procedures, the branch has also actively grasped, answered, and discussed with businesses to agree on implementation.
"Not only when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, but at any time, the company benefited from the support solutions from the Customs agency," said Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Hang.
Due to implementing solutions, as of October 6, 2021, the Customs Branch at Yen Phong Industrial Parks collected more than VND1,742 billion, exceeding the assigned target in 2021 by VND562 billion and the desired target by VND302 billion.
